07 Road King. Vibration at idle.
My Wife has a new 07 Road King and is quite unhappy because of the heavy vibration at idle. I agree - the vibration is very strong especially when compared to her 02 Road King.
The Dealer indicates this level of vibration is normal.
What is your experience? Are you getting heavy vibratin at idle?? Have you found a way to reduce it??
Thanks, Eric

RE: 07 Road King. Vibration at idle.
I have to say I was surprised by it, but from what I've seen this is normal.
I usually just take my hands off the bars at a stoplight or when stuck in traffic and I don't really notice it.
Wouldn't have had this issue had I gone with the heritage softail with the counterbalanced engine, but I'm sticking with the road king.

I second this... The new engine mounts are pretty stiff (so they'll last longer). You can either wait for the mount to break-in or buy an aftermarket mount thats a little softer.

Don't be alarmed , my 07 shook like Elvis in heat when it was new . At 500 miles it was better , at 1000 its all but gone , at least I can make out whats in the mirrors now.

The rubber engine mounting system causes this. At idle, the engine moves around enough to come close to bottoming out the mounts. This passes not only the normal angine vibration, but also the impact of reaching the end of the mount travel to the frame. The good news is that it gets less as the engine speed increases untill it is completely gone around 1800 - 2000 RPM. Ask the dealer if the idle speed can be increased a little, it should help a lot.
