several of my fellow riders have told me my lights are not right when they look at me in thier mirrors. I just say it is the way of riders from the dark side and go on my way. I have on occasion tried to adjust them..

On during the day. Off at night. I bought my bike from a Cop and that is what he told me to do.

I may cut a socket and try to make aim them better. My left one is way up in the air.

Those things are ALWAYS misaligned from the factory and I know of no dealership that adjusts them before sale.
Here's what you'll need:
First grow another arm and hand with six fingers....you're going to need all of them plus your two other hands.
Then go to the nearest pawn shop and buy yourself a deep, 12 point, 9/16" socket and cut a slot 2/3rds of the way down from the business end (nut) of the socket. The slot only needs to be about 1/8" wide so the wires have a place to go. File down any sharp edges.
Then adjust according to the shop manual - it should only take about 3-4 hours to complete first time out.
Good luck.

The most stupid design of the entire MoCo.
Could be much more simple.

There are a few used 9/16 flare nut socket(s) on ebay for $20.
I use a 90° offset handle to watch the angular position of the socket because the flasher 'hot' wire is really short and easily stripped.

@myglide, post 6
you got probably an import from e.g. Britain or e.g. Australia
Sorry, probably of topic, but I had to reply like this :-)

However, the explanation about left to the line and shorter is a good explanation.
I have to ask my dealer about it.

On several of my own and friends bikes we have simply used our hands to tweak the housing in the desired direction. It has always worked fine this way.

I made one myself but haven't used it yet. I cut mine about 3/16ths wide about 3/4's the way down the socket. What's the purpose of the wide cut on this one?

just to get the wires through easily.... since there isn't much torque on them nuts, i wasn't concerned about the wide gap, and it works great, but the opening can be smaller.....
