Default 2300 miles and rear tire is shot..?

I had a set of RC componant rims put on the SG while at Myrtle Beach bike week. They came with Avon tires mounted on them. The front tire is a Avon Venom and the rear tire is a Avon AM23 both are 18's. Today when I was getting ready to ride home from work I noticed the cord showing through on the rear tire. I checked the milage and I have had them on for around 2300 miles. I had to replace the original dunnie at 8900 miles. Now 2300 miles seems like a very short tire life to me. I don't do burn outs or anything and mostly ride solo but every once and a while the wife will ride with me for a few hundred miles.

Any ideas on why the Avon has lost its life in a short period of time? I called the place I got them from but I wasn't able to talk to anybody today that could handle this issue so I am looking for some advice on what should happen or what I should do? I know the new rear tire wont be a AM23. The venom on the front looks brand new.

Rearwheel alignment maybe?
Improper inflation?

I ran manufacturers recommended air pressure and checked it before each ride, the front tire looks new and was put on the same time as the rear and has been maintained same as the rear tire was.

2300 miles?? that's really absurd... you got f'd, sounds like Avon's are junk, don't think I'll ever be buyin' a set of them.
I always get right at 10k outta my Dunlops, never had any kind of problems with them either.

I had heard that Avons gave lower mileage than the other named brands but that is ridiculus. I just got 11,300 with the stock Dunlop. Will be interested to see their excuse. Good luck.

I have a friend with Avons on his roadking. They seem to be giving him average mileage. A lot to look at here: Tire inflation, road conditions where you live, riders on the back, your driving style, cornering etc. etc. Too many to list. I had issues with Metz's on my Fatboy and went back to Dunlop's. Try a different tire the next time. If you get low mileage on that brand more than likely something with the bike.

30 years later it seems I get about 8000 miles on a set of stock Dunlap's. I've thought about trying other tires but have heard that the mileage does suffer with the softer compounds. I wish I could find a tire that gave higher mileage with superior traction.
