Audio Output from stock Harley Radio
I have a 07 Road Glide and my wife and use Nady MRC-11X radios for bike-to-bike comms on trips. Would be nice if I could output my audio system from the Road glide into the Nady. the nady has a input plug, the stock radio has a audio in but no audio out. Anyone help?????

I purchsed the touring electrical manual today and may venure into the bowels of the radio this weekend. Got to be a way to get an audio out line, even if it is the output used for helmet hookups.

No but you can do this if you want.
Gain access to the forward speaker wires.
splice into them and buy a female speaker jack
that can be mounted to the inner fairing (like the lighter
socket is). Solder the wires to it in the proper manner for
a stereo system.
It will work, (but no guarantees on the output or harm to the amplifier circuit) but the better way is the way a home stereo does it.
when you plug a headphone into it, it interrupts power to the speakers.
That requires a different type of plug. But radio shack sells it too.
So your other option is the wires for the ultra setup with the headset
pod (on tank), this is an output signal. I'm not intimately familar with the HD wire setup on this plug, perhaps the electrical manual will help there.
If it is a standard stereo plug, thenyou can buy a plug adapter (reducer) from Radio Shack.
I hit the submit button too soon.

I'm not sure this will work. The problem is the impedance of the speakers vs the impedance of the headphones/headset. Again, I'm not 100% sure, but I think there's more to a headphone jack than just routing a parallel circuit with the speakers off of the amplifier output.

Again, I'm trying to work my way up to "amateur" status.

RE: Audio Output from stock Harley Radio
Hi guys. I'm just starting to research an almost identical situation. Just purchased an Autocom Super Pro AVi system for my '06 EG Classic, and am looking to rig a headset-out jack to pipe audio from the HK radio into the Autocom unit. Thought about taking signal directly from the fairing speaker leads into adash-mountedjack, but not sure about the output level or a possible impedance mismatch. I'm also trying to determine if my base radio is the same as the Ultra, which has pin-outs for headset speakers. I know my radio chassis has the pins (connector 28-a in the schematic), but don't know if they're active on my Classic radio.
I'll keep seeking answers and will post if I make any headway.
I wonder if JMJOHN would weigh in on this...he has a teriffic rep on this forum, and I'd bet he know! Btw, I'm thinking about upgrading my fairing speakers with the J & M replacements at the same time.
