Default Largest rear tire 02 RKC

Dunno if its been asked before but does anyone have any idea if I can put a 140 on the rear without making ANY changes? I read about people using spacers but I would rather not make any changes. Btw I currently do not have nor do I need to put a whitewall tire on. Thanks in advance. You guys

Welcome to the forums. You should post this in the wheel and tires section, but yes, you can use a 140 but it's tight. It's been done before.

Welcome to the forums! I just asked this question a couple of months ago and got some really helpful replies:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-standard.html

I ended up putting a 140/90 16 Michelin Commander II on the back of my Electra Glide and had to remove the inner rubber flap on the belt guide. Easy enough to do by drilling out the rivets. Like John said, it's tight next to the belt but it works, at least on my 2000 Electra Glide.

I went with the bigger tire for the beefier look, and more importantly, for the higher load rating. My Indy did the same thing on his 2002 Electra Glide, so if the guy who works on my bike went that route, I feel pretty good about it.

Good luck!

I've run 140 Dunlop 402's, E3's and Michelin CII's. No problems

So, you are planning on exceeding 783 pounds on the rear tire? If you just said 'I like the wider tire looks' I would have left you alone.

C2 140 on mine. When I seen the tire I thought how is it going to fit it looked so much wider. Got it on with the rubber removed like mentioned. It just rubs in reverse , so I don't have a problem with that. Somebody else on here said there's rubbed in reverse. I think it handles better & like the stance.

I have a Metzeler 880 mu85 that I measured @ 5.72" which is 145 mm. It's no longer made. I'll go with the Dunlop Am Elite mu85 @ 5.63", 143 mm next round.

I also have Metzeler tires. 130 front/140 rear. After I mounted them I put a caliper on both and there was no measurable difference. Kind of surprised me but no real problem.
