Default Got my pipes!! Any install heads up?

I went with the COBRA Neighbor haters based on the good reviews and the ones that I have heard. Anybody else have them? I plan on starting the install tonight. Anything I should be aware of or watch out for while installing them?

I wont sound like a sewing machine when I go to bike week in Myrtle Beach this weekend! Yay!!!!!

Congrats...nice choice & yes:

1. Swap the exhaust gaskets.
2. Rear, re-read, re-read and understand installation instructions.
3. Follow torque specs in your service manual.
4. Use HT silicone on all exhaust joints (e.g. liquid copper).
5. Re-torque after 50-mile break-in.

Enjoy!

They're just slip ons, no big deal at all. Remove bags, remove bolts from pipe hangers (under bags), loosen clamp bolts and slide the pipes off. Reverse the process to mount new pipes. If the stock pipes give you trouble coming off, add a bit of PB blaster to the joint.

I'd try installing the new pipes dry first to see if they're tight or loose. If they're tight, assemble with a light coat of anti-seize. If loose, use high temp silicone as mentioned above. There are no gaskets to worry about with slip ons.

Depending on how long your factory slipons have been on, you may need to be a little persuasive getting them off.

Nickel anti seize or copper in a pinch. Enjoy!

Make sure bike is sitting level when installing, (Not on jiffy stand) Just so you get them right the first time.....

Like mentioned above, you may have to give the stock pipes a good yank. One of mine slid off super easy. The 2nd I needed someone to sit on the bike to hold it still while I twisted and pulled. Used some Wd40 on that side as well. Also make sure they are even before you tighten everything up. Check for leaks at the clamps after you are done. Probably will get that break in smell too the first few miles on them.

I used the copper sealant on the slipons too to make sure there were not leaks. works like a charm and covered by the heat shields
