I need to order new tires for my 2006 Street Glide. I am going to replace the stock Dunlops to Metzelers ME880s.

What size do I order for the rear?

For the front I am going to buy a 21" wheel (HogPro Lemans) and they said I could buy my own tire since I need to buy a new rear anyway. I found tires less expensive at American MotorcycleTire so I might as well order them and bring them to have installed with the new 21" wheel.

What size would I order for the front with the new 21" wheel? 120/70-21"???

140/70-21 for the front, 150/70-18 for the rear I don't think a 120 would work for the front.

 

I am keeping the stock 16" on the rear... What size Metz would replace the dunlop?

140 would match the Dunlop.....many go to a 150, but they don't have the same load rating as the 140....

 

So is this the rear tire that most go with?

When you say the 150 doesn't have the load rating of the 140 what does that mean?

And would this be the right tire size when going with a 21" wheel in the front?

I've got a 150 on my RG... but I went with the new Avon Venom which has an improved tread. No issues.

 

 

How does the load rating impact the tire? Shorter life, less safety, decreased handling?

If the 140 tire has a load rating of 908 lbs and the 150 tireis reduced to a rating of 761 lbs, how much load is on the bike / tire? I weigh 190lbs and ride solo most of the time. When I do ride 2-up the load is uped to 315 pounds. How much of the bikes weight is on the rear tire?

I would like to go with a 150 for the wider tire look, but not at the cost of safety or reduced tire life.

Another question, are there any issues with the 150 rubbing?
