Default 05' FLHT Rear Fender Removal

Hello All,

I am rather new to this forum and have searched the previous threads to come up with no insight as to how best remove the rear fender on my bike. If this has been a topic already discussed or posted please help me out and provide a link. Otherwise...

I am in the process of adding the Street Glide rear facia to my bikeand need to remove the rear fender to have the exisiting tip light wire loom hole covered and painted. Thats when I noticed that the front of the rear fender has one single bolt holding it to the battery box. How is this bolt best removed? Remove rear tire? Remove upper shock bolts and drop suspension out of the way to gain access to the bolt? Or just find a T-40 Torx bit that fits between tire and fender?

Thanks in Advance!

The manual calls for you to remove the rear tire. I recently dove into this project to repaint my ultra, but changed my mind once I got to the rear fender because of how hard it is to get off.

yes, you must remove the rear tire because there is a torx screw insidethe fender, behind the battery.
