Made this tour park mount for the wall. Cost less than $30 in steel. Seems pretty sturdy.

[QUOTE=Frank the Real Biker;13371148]I'll admit it. I'm cheap. My stinginess is legendary among my friends. In order to maintain my penurious image I did this trick to save some bucks. Yeah, new ones are a mere $29.95, but like I said before...I'm cheap.

The little rubber **** on the bottom wore out and allowed the mats to flap in the wind. I feared they would eventually fly away or fall off in the parking lot. I went to the parts bin and found various lengths of stainless steel button head bolts, washers and nuts. Cut off the worn out rubber **** and drilled holes through the mats in their place. Bolted 'em on with the aforementioned hardware and "voila!" (That's French for "awright!") My feet don't slip off the footboards, either. Been riding with 'em that way for years with no problems.

I guess it allows the vibration to come up thru your feet a little more being bolted down tight, but to each his own. i was traveling thru Florida a few years ago and had one come loose [rubber bumpers crack with age] and start to flap, I thought at the next dealer stop i would replace it, But the next time i looked down it was gone!!, probable after turning at a stop light when my feet were on the ground?

Why would you make a turn with your feet on the ground?

What?!?! No. Perhaps the old GL1500 but no GL1800 has air shocks stock. The newer gold wing you mention... Gl1800, has been around since 2001 so a bit unclear what you are talking about with "newer" goldwing comment.

Mine works just like a forward gear. Clutch, throttle, normal... Bike just goes backwards.

Mine is made by Champion and works perfectly on my 09 Police roadking.

BTW... Those playing with gauges... I am looking for a set to put into batwing. Still trying to fix the bike after hitting a deer at 70 last year.

Here's an oil change tip I saw. Usually getting the filter off is a pain in the butt. Had to make a little tin foil drip pan for under it to run the oil off as My RK didn't have the filter belly pan that Harley has now. At any rate, cutting both ends off a plastic pop bottle that is slighter larger than the filter and sliding it up over the filter right to the filter engine mount and then spinning it off. All the excess oil stays in the plastic bottle sleeve. Tried it with a big 2 litre bottle. Not sure what that is in imperial, but it works.
