Default Zumo power ?

I need to redo the power from the bike to the Zumo MC mount, HD dealer must have unhooked it while installing the CB, anyway

I ran the power cable to my cig lighter inside the fairing, I just used crimp connectors to the + & - wires of the cig lighter, some of you have said go to Radio Shack and get a plug for the cig lighter...what plug are for talking about? does anyone have a picture or part number? My Radio Shack is not very good, sells more cell phones than anything.....

Thanks All

While you're there, be sure to buy a pack of 3 amp fuses. You need to remove the 10A fuse the plug is supplied with and replace it with a 3A one for use with your Garmin.

BTW, if you want just a basic plug with bare wire connections, you can pick one up at Wal-Mart for just a couple of bucks. The Radio Shack one just makes the job a little easier.

There's no reason why your dealer would have needed to undo your connection to the lighter as the CB has it's own wires. Those crimp connectors you used are most likely the problem. You're going to have to get behind the fairing again to make any changes so my advise would be to redo those connections by soldering them. That will make for a cleaner look than having a cheap assed Radio Shack plug stuck in the dash with wires hanging out. Just MO.

I prefer the "cheap-assed" Radio Shack plug because it allows me to quickly remove the unit, mount and all. This makes for a cleaner look when the Garmin is not in use. This setup makes it much easier to remove your GPS because it eliminates the need to mess around with that tiny security screw and special driver. I found this to be especially true under less than ideal circumstances, e.g., in dim light or darkness. With the plug, you simply loosen the **** on the RAM mount, unplug the unit, and go.

I've had mine wired both way and, for me, the plug works best.

I had the wired hardwired into the accessory. Yes - I do have a wire hanging down when not in use - but I don't have a problem either. Looks good.

Use the other wire kit that came with the zumo.... and wire the wires into the extra set of wires that run to the headlamp...... Zumo turns on each time u turn on ignition.....This frees oup the cig lighter for whatever other gadget u use.... air compressor...etc...
