Default Ready for cams after Tmax install

Just got my Thundermax with Autotune installed and I’m ready for cams next.

The Tmax install went very well except for rear cylinder O2 bung relocation on the Vance and Hines pipes.

I had to take it to the muffler shop to tweak the angle because it hit the transmission cover.

My bike is a 2007 Ultra Classic.

I’m only changing the cams.

Cam questions:

Gear or chain?

Brand/model?

Can a novice wrench do this?

How complex is this?
Thanks in advance.

Gear or chain? Chain, nothings wrong with the 07+ setup

Brand/model? HQ500TC by Head Quarters is a good one

Can a novice wrench do this? Yes, get the manual

How complex is this? Not bad, do searches on the net and forum for cam changes. Heck, I just posted my pictorial

Dawg or anybody,

Can you give me a list of specialty tools that I will need for the job?

Where do I get them?

That's a great pictured thread on your install.

You only need an inner bearing remover/installer and a gear lock tool for the 07+ cams. I posted an ebay link for a cheap gear lock and contact info for a combo puller/installer on the cheap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harle...spagenameZWD1V

One tool removes AND installs inner cam bearings.

$85 each PLUS shipping by USPS Priority Mail, 2-3 day sevice, from 53704.

PayPal and insurance available.

Email for details if interested....

Just got back from my trip up to northern Fla to get my cams installed. hose not to attempe myself, wanted some work done on my TMAT also, so had Zippers recommend a guy that can do both. Wil post my results and observations in seperate post I have running. If you have the manual and the tools mentioned and decent mechanical ability you can do it. I like having a second set of experienced eyes look in there now and then. HP came out at 86 and TQ at 95 with a HD jug and piston 103 upgrade. Oh HQ 500 cam, I am happy.
