Default 5 Year Extended Warranty for $999.00?

Is a 5 year extended warranty for $999.00 worth it? I am being offered the bumper to bumper extended warranty (which is really only a 3 year warranty added on to the 2 year factory warranty) and wondering if you all think it is worth the cost. I am undecided to buy the warranty or use it on other upgrades on my new 08' RKC.

thanks

depends on how many miles your going to put on and if you wrench on your own bike also figure in the cost of thecheckups they rob you on

I did get the extended warranty but went for the 7 year. I tend to keep my vehicles rather than trade in every couple of years. Other thought was if I should sell/trade, the warranty goes with the bike and might add some additional value to it. Other option, I believe without looking it up, is you can cancel the remaining warranty coverage and get a refund upon selling/trading.

...Be smart...DON"T get it...99% of the time you will discover any problems with the motor in the first 2 years anyway...on the slim chance that something MAJOR goes 3-5 years later, it's probably not going to be over $1000 to fix it anyway. I'd use it for bling....

Almost any financial advisor will tell you that extended warranties are only a profit center for dealers. My point of view is that I would have to expect *more* than $999 in *repair* costs before I broke even. You're still responsible for maintenance costs & both the dealer & insurance company can tell you what you can & can't modify on you bike for the next 5 years. That alone would prevent me from takin' an extended warranty at 10% of the cost. JMHO, YMMV...................

I got it on my '07 RKC thinking of the resale bonus, but now wish I had spent the money on chrome! I vote for spending the money in other ways.

I got it for $880. I took the warranty due to the uncertainties with a new motor and trans. Plus on a street glide, the possibility of the radio going bad too.

999 is the standard price for 3 years without the wheel and tire package. If you get it at all spend the extra ,a total of 1289.00 and get the tire/wheel option. If it is an Ultra it is worth it in my view if you plan on keeping the bike beyond the 2 years covered by the factoory warranty. But then I would go for the whole hog of 5 years at $1859.99.I once had a flat on a sunday and also ruined a chrome wheel which cost 825.00. I got two tows,6 meals for me and my passenger a hotel stay, new tire and wheel. Bill was almost $1800.00 which did not cost me a cent. Yes it may not happen to you but what if it does?Any way depends on your own situation.

$999 is the same amount I paidfor my 5yr Extended Warranty (08 FLHR). Only time will tell if it was a good investment. Wise choice in my opinion if you have the money.
