Default 06-08 Ultra Tour-Pak Removal - Radio Problems

Decided to answer the question separately ... yesterday we were window-shopping at a local dealership talking to the sales (ex-mechanic?) and during the course of conversation he said something that had me scratching my head ...

"If you remove the Ultra's Tour-Pak it will make all the speakers stop working and you'll have to get the Service Dept to re-program the HK stereo so that the front two speakers will work. After that reprogramming the back two will be off all the time and the rear speakers will just be dummies." Also said this is true of all Harmon-Kardon equiped Ultras (06-08).
- WTF? This is the first I've heard of this and seriously bummed if true as I intend to keep the TP off unless we need the extra storage on a long trip. With all the talk of people removing their TP's I've not heard of this ... did I miss a memo?

Have those of you w/ HK equiped Ultra's (who have removed their TP) found this to be true????

Help!
Robert

No. The front speakers work fine without the tour pack. When I put the tour pack, all 4 speakers work. No problem, no reprogramming anything.

With/without pics...

I think that they had a system a long time ago (90's)that had a amp mounted under the tourpak. If you unhooked it, you wouldn't have sound.

The '08 SE Ultra has an amp mounted under the Tour-Pak. I think it's available for all Touring bikes.

I removed my 07 tour pack and I lost almost all volume in the front speakers. Does anyone know why. The kit came with a connector that fits the speaker cable but there are no wires in the connector so I didn't put it on. Anyone have an idea why this happened?

Only problem is hiding those wire under the seat other then that every thing else work good just need to add a CB antenna if you want to use it, but you can buy one from truck stop it's cheap and work good.

Not try to be smart here. But could it just be a fader thing? I'm sure you checked this , just throwing it out there.
