Default Need Advise on the Meltzer 880’s

Ok I need real good input on the Meltzer 880’s. I am looking at replacing the stock tires on my Ultra. Or please give me input on tire selection. I know there are a lot of riders out there that have gone thru a set or two.

Thank you for your input.

i put them on my Yamaha Warrior and they were GREAT.

im not sure if they make them with the wide whites, but if they do, id consider them as replacement on my RKC

I hear that they stick to the road pretty good, and that they handle thru turns awesome.

I had them (ME880's) on my 1800cc VTX 110hp and 111ftlbs tq Never an issue of letting the road go. My brother rode mine and the next weekend went and had a set bought and installed on his bike. Rain Traction is Good as well.

I'm going to give you a bump ttt. I also am soon to be in the market for at least a back tire for my 07 ultra. I was at the International Motorcycle show in Cleveland this past weekend and spoke to the Dunlop rep. He advised me to go with OEM Dunlops. He advised me not to go with the new E3 Dunlops??? Everything I've read here has been good on the E3's.

I also spoke to the Meltzer rep who said the 880's are head and shoulders above Dunlops.

I'm interested to hear from some riders experiences.

**I also had a chance to sit on a new Rocker = nice bike; Crossbones = not my cup of tea; Victory Vision = ??? hard to get past the looks; a lot of very cheap plastic; Bags and tourpack cheap and have no room; Wife says backs seat sucks = stick with the Ultra.

I haven had any Metz tires but I have about 6K on a set of Michelin Commanders and will NEVER have any Dunlops again! The Commanders handle twisties great, they ride softer than the lops, they hold in the rain very good and so far they are wearing very good, atleast to the wear I got with the stock Dunlops. And I belive the Commanders are load rated higher than the metz.Y amight want to check them out

I switched from Dunlops to the Metz and I love them to death! bike handles the road groves better than ever. Hell, I almost sold my bike thinking there was something wrong with it, but it was just the stock **** tires!

I think you will like the Metzlers.

I disagree with that statement. I thought the gave a wonderful ride but they seemed extreamly slick. When I really leaned hard into the tire it seemed to lose traction. I ran two sets and decided they were not the tire for me.

I got rid of a good set of Lops and replaced them with ME880s last year. Got about 6k on em and IMO they are a superior handling tire to the stock Lops. I live in an area where there are a lot of tunnels, steel bridges and draw bridges (read widepavement joints) the Dunlops scared me more than once with their tracking in these joints. The MEs do not track and go where ever I point them. They also handle better form my money. I do not think they will wear as well bc they are a softer compund, but I can live with that.
PS I bought my ME880s from Bart (shooter64) on this forum. He has excellent prices and second to none service
