Sirius radio hook-up.....................

RE: Sirius radio hook-up.....................
A few people here have reported you can put the antenna under the batwing. I just rewired mine and put it there. We'll see....... in about 3 freakin' months when the weather turns good!
Prior to that I had my antenna stuck above the left speaker with a dab of black silicone. I tried putting it on the front fender (one of the few steel parts in the vicinity) but it didn't do real well there. It didn't even work to well stuck to the tank.

I bought the kit from Sirius, a motorcycle mount kit. It came with an antenna with a very short cord and all mounting hardware (see my pic below). Also comes with wiring to hard wire the radio if you want to but I use my aux plkug on my Radio and it works great. Unless I am listening to a cd, I almost always listen to the Sirius!

If you don't want to see the wire going into the Aux port you can buy a hard wire FM connector (about $30 at Radio Shack) and run the sat radio through the antenna lead on the back of the motorcycle radio. Makes for a cleaner hook-up and I can't tell any difference in sound quality.

I have mine mounted using a motorcyce mount I bought off of Ebay. Antenna is sitting ontop of the radio inside the fairing. I just use the built in FM modulator and never have any reception problems or interference/white noise. I bought a second 12V accessory plug and just got power from the cigarette lighter. That's probably the only thing I'll change is to hardwire the power to the battery or fusebox.
