Default Pitting on chrome and down forks question

I have a 07 ultra, I did not get the chrome down tubes it is stock. The tubes are already pitting and starting to look bad. The dealer wants me to chrome the tube as they seem to that pitting at six months it normal. Does anyone else have any information on this? It seems to me they should warranty the tubes or at least not charge labor to switch them out to chrome. Also my engine guard is not looking too good either. This bike is garage kepts and always clean, my 96 Road King never had these issues.

Thanks for your help

Pitting on the forks is pretty normal after all it leads the motorcycle into the wind and is basically exposed to a constant sand blasting. Every motorcycle I've owned has gone through this.

The only way out of it is to not ever ride it. Keep it shined and waxed and trailer to any events!

Yup I've seen this over the years particularly in a salt environment like Fla. Thelower forks can be wet sanded out and covered.I cover the forks with clear stick on vinyl to protect them. Stops the corrosion form the stone chips ect. Don't really know about the engine guard because I alway remove them. Got one if you needone. Good luckwithit being a warranty issue.

Yea I am in Fl, I dont drive the beach that often, my 96 didnt even start to look shabby for about six years, seems HD is skimping on the clear coat and chrome in my opinion.

Mine is a 14 months old. Have not had a problem with forks or engine guard.
