Default First service finally...now what?

So I finally had my first service. Put in Syn3. My first service was free so why pay for more?

So now that I have had my first service how many of you changed your oil before your 5000 mile service?

On my softail I had put in regular oil and waited to 5000 miles, then started every 2500 mile changes.

I changed mine at 1800 miles before I put it away. And I will continue to change it every 2500 miles and do all my own service and maintenance.

If you're using a good synthetic changing at 2500 miles is throwing money away, IMO.
Now that's not to suggest you go back to running dino oil, just leave the syn in longer. Say 4000 miles.

The Syn3 can go 5000.Change only if you want to use a different brand like Amsoil or Mobil.
I use Amsoil and change it every 5000.
