Well I am wanting a new seat and had decided on the sundowner for my 08 SG. I don't really like the looks of the smooth sundowner so I wanted to wait for the sundowner with the SG stitching. I already have the tourpack, sissy bar and rider back rest with the street glide stitching after all.

So I go to the local HD store and ask about the seat and he tells me "since they standardized the touring seats there will be no sundowner with street glide stitching" now that he mentioned it that they all have the same seat, it sorta makes sense. But I would think that since they are still selling the other seat accessories with the SG stitching that they would make the sundowner with the stitching?

Excuse my rambling but I am now stumped on what to do for a seat!!

 

Buy the Sundowner, take it and the stock seat to an upholstry shop and have them stitch and install the SG fabric on the Sundowner, instant custom one of a kind seat!

 

I dont know where your at in CO but there is a great guy in Canon City that can do it!

 

Several people on this forum are wondering the same, myself included. I had heard it was coming this spring but can't say for sure. If not I will be in the same boat.

 

I have thought about something like this but didnt want to spend the extra coin on the stitching. Any idea what something like that would cost? I would end up with a $500 sundowner?

 

That sucks! I really like mine on the 07 and was happy/impressed that HD made one to match. I guess thats out the window[:-]

What the hell does "standard-ized" the touring seats mean? Is everyone going to have the same seat? I don't forsee H-D not looking for an extra buck and not making seats designed for the individual bikes. I'm waiting on the RKC styled seat to show up. They made it last year, so why not keep it up. Looks like they sell a lot of them Sundowners. Just an FYI, my local parts counter people are vaguely informed at-best. I keep asking them about bars for my 08 RKC, and they know nothing. I have to explain to them what is going on.

 

It does not mean all bikes have the same seat it means they all mount the same ( different than '07 earlier) and are the same length. There is no longer RK/RG/ST seats and Electra Glde seats.

 

I got the same thing from my parts guys in Simi,, they say there is rumor of a Sundowner for the 08's with the SG stitching that may be coming in spring... I'll keep my fingers crossed!
