Default FLHT Radio Tape Player Repair Possible??

Well my Tape Player has finally died, or is dying. Plays cassettes at 'Chipmunk' speed. Has anyone attempted repair on these or can anyone recommend a repair faciluty?? This is a 1992 Radio/Cassette unit. I believe they were Motorola. Any info greatly appreciated??
TIA

Unless you're hell bent on keeping everything OE stock, it wouldn't be worth getting a 1992 tape deck repaired IMO. You'd be better off going aftermarket or adapting a newer unit to your bike

I would not take it to a shop but before you get a new one, you might try taking yours apart and changing the rubber belts.

IIRC, the headunit you have was supplied by Radio Sound of Louisville, KY. They offer a repair service that is done on an exchange basis. Here's their phone number. Ask for customer service and speak to "John," I believe:

502 267-6768

+1 for the Biketronics suggestion, instead of repairng the stock headunit.

+1 for Radio Sound. Had them repair my CB last year. John also answered several tech questions that I had.

With the Biketronics/RetroRadio option, you'll lose your CB and intercom, if you've got an Ultra. If you ride a Classic, then aftermarket is definitely the way to go, IMHO.

Good luck and ride safe.
