Default Can't find tranny drain.

Hi All,

Newbie question.

Got the engine oil and filter changed, no problems. Nice 3/4 inch bolt for draining engine oil. Filter turned loose with a pair of big channel lock pliers. Life is good.

Got the primary oil changed, not as nice as engine oil hole, had to go to auto store and buy torx head sockets. But got it changed, no problems.

ButI can't find thetranny drain hole.

Can someone tell me where the transmission drain plug is on a 1997 FLHTCU 1340cc ultra classic, before I push the damn bike over on its side and look at its underbelly???

Rocknrod,
Great pic.
I used to dogood with color by numbers, so I bet I can follow your directions.
Except, that is not what my underbelly looked like. Leastwise I don't remember it looking like that.
As soon as I am fully awake this morning, I will crawl under there again with your picture in mind.
(Maybe I need to lay on the other side of the bike? *lol*)
Thanks for your help, maybe it will push me over the top,
Russ

Of course, you might look into HD PN 99483-97A ... which is the service manual PN for your bike... Just a thought, LMAO....

Oops, that was stupid! Thinkin' oil & got off on the oil bag. Transmission is a big plug dead center under the gear box.

Ahhhhhh yes!!!! The service manual... P/N 99483-97
Now why didn't I think of that?
I could have just opened the manual to page 1-40 and read item 2 under the heading of Trannsmission Lubricant and saw that the drain plug was on the bottom of the transmission.
(no need for a ref. to a figure, because there is no figure showing the transmission pan or the drain plug location)

Once again thanks rocknrod, I'll lookusing your drainfor dummies reference.

Rocknrod's picture is funny & a great help for lost Twinkie owners, but it's not going to be much help on an EVO.
