Does anyone know why the Road King Custom was discontinued?
I've heard a bunch of theories about this. After all the RK Custom was the predecessor to the Street Glide, with the lowered rear end, clean fenders, and the streamliner floorboards. I love my Custom and it appears that with the number of RK Custom owners on this site that it was a very popular model. After all, the CVO King is also a variation of the Custom! By discontinuing the Road King Custom, does this mean that the factory will be coming out with another high style Road King model for 09? Perhaps a Road King with 18" factory wheels? A 200 Back tire? A wrap front fender? Any ideas of what the factory will bring out to replace the Road King Custom.

RE: Does anyone know why the Road King Custom was discontinued?
Not enough riders who were actually qualified (i.e. looked good enough to go with the bike) to own a RK Custom.
The other factor was the RK Classic gave you so much more for your money. The RKC cost $170 more yet included aux. lights and detachable windshield. If you were not in love with the FLHRS but just wanted a RK, the RKC was the best buy, IMO.
I think the RK Custom will return in the future just like the Softail Custom did.
