Rode my 08 ultra for 4 hours in hard rain last weekend, found out a few things about my rain gear, it did not work, had the harley cheep rain suit and it leaked around my waist, my cheep rain gloves (not harley brand) soaked through in about an hour, my full face helmet would fog up and I had to crack it open and that let water in, but I cain't complain because I chose to ride, but next time I will be prepared better. The bike never missed a beat, just set the cruise and went on.
Riding in the rain is not too bad as long as it is not cold.
Rode thru a storm today, was in high 70's. Eventually pulled over because of the lightening...waited that out for about 20 minutes and then got back on the road in a light rain, but no lightening.
I feel for ya, but at least you got to ride.
Had a foot of snow here over the last 3 days. last week it was +24 (about 76f)
Looks like at least another week before we ride
I've got the $150+/- H-D suit and booties... I'venever had to use it in heavy rain so far. Carried it on our Sturgis trip last summer but only light rain in NW Oregon (we took the long way ) is all we saw on that trip. The kind of light rains we get here in San Diego it gets me by fine though.
Ourbrothers in Florida can probably give us the best rain gear advice for hardcore rains...
I've got Frog Toggs. They keep you pretty dry, but man are they hot. I don't really recommend them, but they will do for emergencies. I really HATE riding in the rain.
