Not the Usual Stolen Bike Story
We were at a rally in Bandera Texas some weeks back. Saturday night as the event was wrapping up, a buddy of mine went downtown to one of the bars to shoot some pool. At closing time he came out, and (as you may have guessed) his '05 Fatboy was gone.
Of course, my bud had insurance and got all the paperwork flowing right away. He located another '05 (still in the box....he really liked the '05) at another dealership and made arrangements to have it shipped to him. The new bike arrived Saturday.
....and Monday morning the Bandera police dept called and said they had recovered his old bike (after almost two weeks). Not a scratch on it. Parked off the side of the road several miles out of town.
Unfortunately, the insurance had not settled yet.So my buddy nowowns two '05 Fatboys.
I don't recall ever hearing of a bike being stolen outside a rally that was recovered in one piece.

RE: Not the Usual Stolen Bike Story
Have a friend that did the same thing at VA hospital. Went out, no wheels, reported it stolen. VA security called about four weeks later to ask why he hadn't moved his car...yep, he went out the other side of bldg and never thought that he was on the wrong side.

RE: Not the Usual Stolen Bike Story
Buddy of mine had his FatBoy stolen from his garage. No doubt about it being stolen but even with that the insurance refused to settle in any way until after 30 days incase it was located. Then to top it off when it was time to settle he got screwed royally on all the "extras" he added even though he had all the paperwork. They told him they had to "prorate it" Ultimately he still owed $2800 on the bike after the insurance settled. So he was left without a bike and owed money to the bank yet, how nice is that. (Bike was about 1.5 years old)
