A lot of the moco employees here at the York plant used to modify the Electra Glide Standards to look like what has become the Street Glide. HD Management seen these bikes in the parking lot and took notes.

If I remember back in the EVO days the Electra Glide Standard was the striped down touring
Bike, with no TourPack, No radio, and not lowered in the rear, it was a Street Glide type
of looking no frills Bike. Back in the day, a lot of the club guys (HA) use to ride them down in
Oakland California.

The factory saw what people were doing with them performance wise, and jumped
on the band wagon, making the Street Glide a new model back in 06. I think the Electra
Glide Standard was dropped in 05 or 06, with Harley, Models come and others go.

the street glide look goes way back actually. for years people have been taking the top trunks off of the EG to get that street glide look. I have seen some 1980's electra glides converted to street glides long before the actually street glide came out. I think its incredibly smart for Harley to make that a model considering how popular that mod was back in the day.

The Electra Glide Standard is the Street Glide's daddy.
