2000 Ultra Classic with a new 6speed Problems.
Hey guys I am posting this for a friend he has a 00 Ultra and he had the stealer put the new 6 speed in the bike. He is having problems with it making loud noise when it gets hot. Anyone else put a 6 in the older bikes and have problems? It's been back to the shop a few times and they can't replicate the problems they said. But we hear it when it gets up to speed and temp. I have the 08 SG and I dont hear mine making the noise his does. HD wont do anything for him. Any Ideas?

RE: 2000 Ultra Classic with a new 6speed Problems.
These transmissions are noisy, but on your 08 they installed the IDS from the factory, which masks the noise. I don't think he can retrofit IDS on an 00 bike due to belt width, but he can check. He could trya heavier oil, 75/140, as this seems to help. Search 07 transmission for other (MANY) suggestions.

Did they use a Screamin' Eagle 6 speed or anther brand. If they used the SE, they needed to do some grinding in the case so maybe its not clearanced correctly sowhen its up to temp and the metals expand, it makes a noise...? I used the Baker DD6 but they don't require any grinding but the others do.
