Got an 08 anniversary Ultra in December. Almost 6000 miles on it and I am not happy with the stock pipes. I have Screaming Eagleson my King. They are just right for me but they don't make them any more asper the dealer. I want a simple slip on that I can do my self with out putting a power comander/ race tuner what ever on the bike. But I want some good old fasion Harley sound. Wow I can't belive corperate Harley is letting these bike get out of the factory sounding like a Honda.
I need to be hear 'rd coming down the street & want to still hear the radio, I realy don't want to have to put an Amp on the bike just for the pipes.

I have an 07 Ultra. I like you wanted just enough sound to know it is a Harley and still be able to hear the Radio. I added the Vance and Hines ovals to the stock head pipes. I did not change the A/C or add anything to the EFI. It runs good and sounds great. I have looked at the Plugs and they are a nice golden tan.

I love the way the Ovals look and the sound is perfect. They are not too loud for me. The only complaint is that they don't have removable baffles.

 

I put the KERKER slip ons with fish tail nice low rumble nicer when you get on it had the Screamin eagle touring these are about twice the sound of those and you can still hear the stereo fine

 

Don't know what SE pipes you have on the King, but HD still offers SE pipes as shown here.

I always have to smile at comments like this one! It comes out of the factory sounding like it does because Harley is forced to meet governmental regulations justlike any other manufacturer. Having said that, and from the point of view of a long time Honda rider who recently spent a 3 day week end and 1100+ miles on a box stockUltra Classic rental, I can vouch for the fact that the Ultra Classic, even one with factory stock exhaust, doesn't sound "anything" like a Honda, fortunately!

I really enjoyed the bike, BTW and I think I might wind up with one as soon as I can get the finances in line!
