Default Fiberglass Bags Vs, ABS Bags

I'm thinking about buying some hard bags for my RK/custom, Fiberglass or ABS, give me your thoughts, likes, dislikes on both types, thanks

Well the fiberglass ones can be repaired more easily if you get a crack in them or something like that.

I had the fiberglass on my old bike and the ABS on my new. I preferr the fiberglass. I don't like all the flex and give that the ABS have....

I'm with Bill03E,
Harley went with ABS because it's cheaper to manufacture. But if you do get a crack, it will be much harder to repair. WIth the glass bags, you can pick up a $12 kit at your local auto parts store and do a decent, strong repair in a few hours. The ABS parts would need a plastic welder to fix. I would think that the ABS bags may be a bit more resistant to cracking in the first place, though.

I've seen alot more "glass bags" crack out than the new style, infact I don't think I have ever seen the new bags crack.

The ABS parts would need a plastic welder to fix.
First, they are not ABS. Second if they were, you do not need a plastic welder to repair ABS. To repair ABS, you can mix ABS pellets in MEK and let it dissolve into a goo. Then, wipe the crack with MEK on a cloth to soften the ABS and coat it with the goo several times. The repair will be as strong as the original. I have an Apache camper with ABS walls, ends and roof. I am a crack master.

Newer bags are all nylon. They are way better than glass, more giving when overloaded.
