Default D402 tire pressure

I need some help. I have a 2006 police Road King with Front and rear MT908 x 16 blackwalls (D402 tires). The book says the pressure should be 36 but the tire says a max pressure of 40. I've been riding solo with 36psi in both tires. Does anyone have these tires and what pressure do you keep them at?

36 Front and 40 Rear. Solo and 2 up. All tires have a max rating and its just that, the maximum cold pressure that shouild be put into the tire.

I agree with Soos, 36 front, 40 rear. The number on the tire is max inflation pressure by Dunlop but notthe recommended pressure. They put it on the tire because they never know what bike it might end up on. I likew to use the HD numbers from the owners manual but Ibump to the 40 reading on the rear for better tire life. I get 10-11k out of each rear tire with some tread left when I change it and 20+ out of the front before it needs replacing.

Default Mt90...8?

I ride a 2003 FLHPI everyday, I just rolled 100k miles and need new tires. I am looking for a good set, I generally use the standard D402 because that is the easiest to get and when I get new tires it is because I need them now. I have had Metzelers before on my Sporty and really liked them. When j tried to translate the "MT908-16" to a metric reading, it does not work. An MT90 would be a 130/90 but my specs add an "8" at the end which messes me all up. I know that the standard tire for the police model is a runflat

It is supposed to be a 130/90-16 runflat? If anyone has a better tire suggestion too that would rock! Thanks everyone.

Peace.

Those words on the sidewall are a darned nuisance - we get similar questions and wrong answers frequently. They are best ignored as they SIMPLY say the max load on the tyre, at the stated pressure.

Don't forget to use Harley branded air to avoid voiding your warranty.
