Default Softail Deluxe vs. Road King...

Has anyone switched from a Road King to a Softail Deluxe or vise versus, or have ridden one and the other that can tell me if there is a really big difference in the feel of the bikes? I've ridden the Electra Glidesand Road Kings just as a point of reference.

I have a RKC and a good buddy of mine has a Deluxe......I can tell you that the Deluxe feels much lighter and that the seat height seems about 2 inches lower.....which may add to it feeling lighter as the center of gravity is lower. I can't say much as for the handling because he's got beach bars on his and I still have the stock bars.

I rode my buddy's softtail the other day. Its much ligher than the road king. My 06 Road King feel much more stable at high speeds than his bke did also, for some reason his bike got worse milage than mine. Its probably just because of the engine mods, I have the 103 kit and he has a 96 on his both with Race Tuners dynoed at the same place by the same guy.

I've ridden both. The RK is a beefy motorcycle with a much heavier ride. The Deluxe, while a very nice bike, was too low for me... and it felt very "light" to the touch compared to the RK.

The Road King only weighs 45 lbs more than a Deluxe.

FYRDOC, thanks for the info. The deluxe does look to be a little lower than my R.K., I am a 6'1" so that would affect my ride. I am just really liking the style of that model. Not looking to switch to a different model just yet, lovin my R.K.

Rode both back to back this weekend. The RK feels bigger and heavier, but handles better at low speeds imo. MUCH prefer the RK.

I have a 05 bagger, while my wife has a 06 softail deluxe. The softail definately is lighter and better handlinng. At highway speed, I would defiantely take my bagger.

If you get the Deluxe don't forget your purse.
