Default EFI - Sensitive to gas level??

I have noticed when my bike (see below) gets low on gas, close to the red zone, I begin to feel a miss, like I'm running out of fuel. My thoughts are: 1) loss of head pressure causing miss; 2) fuel filter needs changing

BTW, I have 28k + miles on the bike and the MOCO recommends fuel filter R/R at 25k, eventhough, most wrenches I talk to say if it ain't broke don't fix it. They rarely see problems with the fuel system. Also, I have run the thing dry once which I know is not good for EFI.

I'm open for suggestions.

No EFI is not sensitive to fuel level.
However you may have something wrong inside your tank.
There was a thread on that the other day.

I believe it had something to do with a hole in one of the hoses within the tank

MyFirstHD...I'm thinking about doing the R/R on the filter just for peace of mind. There's a great How To Tech article in American Iron on the very subject. I just hate to start dinking around in the fuel system, I'm afraid I'll f*ck sum'thin up.

I had it miss once. I was close to a gas station so I stopped and added 5.3 gallons (5 gal tank) and all was good again Oops!

Scooterjammer, there are several fuel lines in your tank that deliver fuel to the fuel pump, filter andfuel delivery hose. The early model efi bikes were having a problem with the plastic hoses getting holes in them due to hose to hose or hose to pump contact, the symptoms you describe are similar, inthat your fuel pressure has likely fallen below factory specs. I for onehad to replace both hoses in my 03 (65000miles) problem solved. good luck, Kevin
