Default oil pump and cam plate failed

The oil pressure on the 06 ultra seemed kind of low 15-20 psi when hot above 2000 rpm,&nbsp\\; so I took it in to the dealer before my warranty ran out&nbsp\\;(2 days left)&nbsp\\; They tell me I need a new oil pump and the cam plate is worn?&nbsp\\; Whats up with the cam plate?&nbsp\\; Any&nbsp\\;thoughts or should I have them check anything else...&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

The oil pump sits against the cam plate and can score it.&nbsp\\; I had mine go at 25k.&nbsp\\; I noticed some extra fuzzies on the drain plug when changing the oil and tore it down to investigate, thinking it was a cam bearing.&nbsp\\; The only scoring I could find was in the oil pump and cam plate.&nbsp\\; I changed them out with the Screaming Eagle billet cam plate and high volume oil pump.&nbsp\\; Did Andrews 26g cams while I was in there.&nbsp\\; I have pics in a thread "metal in oil".

With chronic low pressure, check juggs for scarring.&nbsp\\; look at oil drain plug for evidence of the jugg scarring.&nbsp\\; This can trash fly wheel assembly if it has gone on too long.&nbsp\\; When you replace, go with a Feuling brand oil pump and cam plate.&nbsp\\; Feuling is aboslutely the best you can get! &nbsp\\;If you have not gone gear drive cams yet, now is the time!&nbsp\\; Check on Ebay, American Classic Motors has a store with a package deal at an awsome price.&nbsp\\;

I'd be just as concerned with the reason they failed.&nbsp\\; Have them check crank runout.&nbsp\\; If you have excess runout you'll be doing this all again later on your own dime.

In my case the crank runout was within spec. I suspect the wavey spring used in the oil pump itself, but there was no way to tell for sure.

doughbk, I went through the same low oil pressure routine. At 23,000 I had a Fueling pump and baisley spring with gear drive and Andrews Cams installed. My cam runout is about .001 but if i was to do it over, I'd put in the 07 setup of their smaller cam chain and shoe setup. Nobody talks about the shoes wearing on 07/08 bikes . Mine is noisey with the gear drive. I love the preformance of the 26's at low end. Just my $.02&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Dan

A compression and leakdown test should tell you if you have bigger problems.
