Default Vance & hines exhaust question

I have an '06 Road King Custom that I am either going to put on a Vance & Hines #16745 Monster Oval Slip-On mufflers or part #16727 Oval Slip-On muffers. The question is: do I really need to buy the V & A reprogrammer for $300.00 or can I safely just install the mufflers? I just like the looks and sound and am not so concerned about added performance. My bike goes fast enough for me.

Thanks,

Joechief

If you still have the stock air filter you should be alright without it, just check your plugs and see how it runs

If ALL you do is add the slip ons you should be just fine. If & when you add a high flow A/C the you'll need to look at a Fuel Pak or similar fuel mgt. system.

I have the slip-on V&H ovals and I can tell you from experience that my bike seems to be running very lean. I will be buying a PCIII at the end of the season along with headers or I will be selling the V&H ovals and buy a 2-1.

JMHO & Experience.

You will be able to run it without, but as was said, you will probably run lean.

I'm in the process of buying the V&H Ovals 16727 for my stock 03' Ultra Classic - I've done an extensive amount of research and concluded I should add the V&H Fuel Pak (V&H Fuel Pak works good with V&H mufflers) and while I'm at it a K&N RK3909 high performance A/C - my objectives for the upgrade was to increase/improve the sound and additional "get up and go" - as soon as I get and install everything and the weather improves here in the Midwest (which should be in the spring), I'll post a thread.
