I notice the baggers have different oil fill plugs. A dip dot would be great for the center.
Anyone know who makes different ones?
My dealer only has larger ones for god knows what.
I was thinking of putting a lone star conch in mine, but I lloking around.
how did you get your dip dot to stay on, the sticy no stick for me.
i used some jb weld putty to 'flatten' the surface area out a little (built it up around the outside perimeter), but otherwise didn't do anything special. the sticky tape on the caliper insert has been holding for quite some time, and shows no sign of loosening up anywhere. maybe thats what it is, since it isn't a bona fide dip dot, the tape may be stronger.
Dip Dot = Slang nickname for a self adhesive backed Dealer Logo medallion, most have the bar and shield, dealer name and location. They most often are used as collectibles or put on your oil dipstick. Large ones are for Softails, small ones were for rubber mounts. Some dealers give them out for free with service, or for stopping in when you are from out of town. Lots charge for them, $5. Cost about .25 to make.....LOL!
I used my State Quarter for the oil dip stick (fill Plug) Take a 2X4 Scrap and ball peen a divit into the wood, then take a quarter and set it over the dent and center punch it with a good sized punch, lay it over the fill plug and check it for fit,, then never dull it to a chrome shine and adhesive with high temp copper silicone.. 13k miles so far and it hasen't moved. Montana has the skull so I thought it would look good..
