Since this is an old 2008 thread that everyone is commenting on lets reminisce, In 2008 I was riding a 2006 Nightrain with a stage one 88" engine and 5 speed. I'm sure I dug up a few old threads by accident in my time as well, lets give the new member a break and welcome him to the site shall we brothers?
Still riding my '06.

It would have been nice, if the OP had posted the answer to his original problem. I don't like when someone trashes a small business on here, and then leaves us hanging on what the solution was. This thread should be locked.
Guess it is nice to see all the happy Woods customers post a defence, here.

I know it old post, but have several friends with woods 222, 555, 777, and 888 and not the first one has had any noise. Some are running stock lifters and some Woods directional. Most are running tapered pushrods and some have stock springs and heads and some have 585 springs and ported heads.

Experienced Dyno Tech here . . . . .
Hello there,
The situation that you described here is definitely a tuning issue. I've ran a Dyno for years for a HD Dealership and now own one along with a shop. I've run into a few issues with newer bikes such as yours when trying to tune it after Woods Cams have been installed. The Dealership your dealing with is somewhat correct - Due to the fly by wire throttle, you may experience dead spots or loading up (like your situation which causes backfiring and popping). But they are wrong saying it cannot be fixed. Whenever I have run into this situation, I've used the newer Power Vision tuning device to solve these issues. Harley doesn't ever recommend using anything other than their certified HD products, so they won't tell you how to fix the issue. Unfortunately, your probably stuck with the Super Tuner unless the Dealership bends over backwards for you and talks HD into divorcing the Super Tuner from your bike to resell. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up!!
