Default What is the fix? Pain between shoulder blades and base of the neck.

It appears to very common for most on long rides (2 or more days) but little is said about it...

What have you done to resolve the issue for you?...Or maybe your just dealing w/ it.

Thanks in advance.

More pull-back and cruise control.

Other than changing bars, seat etc around your overall posture is probably to blame. Many pain problems are related to the lower back. Try physiotherapy did it for me.

You aren't relaxing your shoulders. Pretty common on long bicycle rides as well. While you're riding bring your shoulders up towards your ears and then all the back back a few times. I usually do this about ever 45 minutes or so when riding distances coming out of the winter months. By the summer time, my body has remembered to be relaxed.

With the rider backrest, I don't have to pull to hold myself up.

300-500-push-ups every other day in sets of 50 fixed mine in about 3 weeks. I can ride 8+ hours every day since I got to that level. Before I started doing them, about an hour of riding and I was done.

For lower back pain, I worked up to 2000 continuous belly crunches a day, every day. That's about 730,000/year. Pain-free is good!

Good luck,

John

...I certainly am relaxed on the bike...

What pull back bar is available for the Ultra that cables would not need replacing?

Wild one 575's should do the trick for you but as mentioned by some other apes really work well. We did a 5 day trip a few months back and never once did I have any pain in the area you described where I use to all the time with the stock bars.
