Default Harley Ultra Tank Bra Install---newbie advice needed

Good day
Purchased a Tank Bra for my '09 Ultra. First question is whether the bra will chafe the clearcoat. Secondly, instructions are pretty vague....the long elastic strap that fits over the front of tank....this doesn't seem logical. The strap is quite exposed to air movement I would think...thus causing it to move and scar the paint.
Any advice and step by step in simple terms is needed.

Instructions are correct. Once its installed, the front sterap is so tight that it will never move, Plus its well under the tank, so its not seen at all. As for the bra rubbing on the paint, Yeah, its gonna do that a little bit, but if you make sure you put a couple good coats of wax on before the bra, it should be ok. Also take it off once in a while to re-wax the tank.

1st: make sure tank is clean
2nd:apply a good coat of wax to tank
3rd:slip rear of tank bra under seat and connect rear strap (do this on a cold engine, or you will get burned)
4th: pull long elastic strap over front of tank by frame, make sure it then goes under tank on both sides
5th: remove when you wash bike, shake out dust follow steps 2,3,and 4
have not had any problems yet, but it has only been on for 1500 miles

Might want to think about putting a Profinish kit on the bike first.

Explain Profinish Kit please.
Often wondered if the 3M clear plastic vinyl may be a better solution....thoughts?

Here is his site, used to be an excentric member here but was a little too excentric, I liked him though. His products are supposed to be good from forum feedback. I will do my new ultra when I take delivery next week.

I have never see a bra come off of anything that left the paint looking good. My advice is take it back, if you're looking for protection get the Profinish type kit.

I agree!! the bra's will eventually scratch the paint, regardless of how careful you are. Course, on the other hand, wearing leathers (at least in my case) on long rides I have scratched the tank with just the leathers.

The problem I had living on the gulf coast was we have alot of sand on the roads, I purchased one and had such issues with sand blowing up under the tank bra itself, after just a few days of having it on I could seen it was going to do major paint damage. If I were you i would just forego the use of a tank bra.
