It is not uncommon for the HD batteries to last 4 5 6 years and more. The one in my deuce is original and I discharged it 2 times (Ignition left on) Charged it back up and it is still kicking. My only rule of thumb is to plug it in when the cover goes on and my alarm is set to hibernate after 20 days.

My last bike the HD battery lasted 12 1/2 months. Just long enough to be out of warranty.

The Interstate I replaced it with lasted for over two years and was still going strong when I traded it in.

The terminals on the interstate batteries are junk in my opinion. If their all like the ones that are on the batteries made for the V-Rod, they crack easily. The nut and bolt set-up with the bridge type terminal is weak compared to the HD solid mounted terminal. I cracked one of the terminals within 2 months of owning the battery, disposed of it and bought the HD one. The little bit of money you save is not worth the aggravation!!

My 2005 Ultra Classic has the original battery, which cranks as strong as the day it was new. I use a Battery Tender and I believe this helps a lot.
