I am looking for some nice riding from Des Moines Iowa this week, starting Thursday! We were going to head up northeast Iowa into WI/MN along the Mississippi but weather is looking at 60-63 as highs. Wife wants warmer.

Heading west into Nebraska, south to MO or even N.W. Iowa weather is suppose to be 68-71! Any good routes you guys can suggest to enjoy the countryside, rivers, lakes!?!?!?

Go South on I-35 to K.C. then veer off to the Ozarks.

 

It doesn't get any prettier than up around Guttenburg and McGregor. Then crossing over into WI and over to the House on the Rock and Dells area.

Take highway 65 south from Des Moines and end up at the Country Mountain Inn in Eureka Springs, AR. Tell them a Doof sent you. They will take great care of you.
65 is a nice ride and you can find all kinds of great riding in northern Arkansas.

 

Lose hills just east of I29 from Omaha to Sioux City.

 

I'll second Eureka Springs as a destination! LOTS of good riding down there! If you come into Nebraksa you'll need your helmets. I'm headed down to Rockport, Missouri tomorrow with a buddy to have lunch (4 hours round trip) just because. Season is winding down and I'm not ready dammit!

 

+1 on loess hills. Then turn west to yankton sd to fort randall dam near pickstown.

Ultima is having an open house this weekend. Lots of people, bikes and food. They are located in Peevely, which is just south of St. Louis. Hope this helps.
