Default Dont know what to think

Took my ultra in for its 1k service.
When I got the bike back I noticed that the clutch lever looked dull compared to the brake lever.
I guess my question is is the brake and clutch lever chrome or just polished aluminum?
I showed it to the service writer and the first thing he said was we did n0t switch your lever.

I told him I was not accusing anyone but that when I brought in my bike the clutch lever looked just like the brake lever.

The brake lever looks chrome and the clutch lever looks like a dull aluminum with oxidation spots all over it.
Now keep in mind my bike is three weeks old and is always kept inside when Im not on it.

Also I looked at the clutch lever and the production date stamped on it says 07 my bike is an 09.

I am just gathering opinions before I bring this up to the owner/mang.

Don't know where this thread is going. Perhaps they didn't clean it after they checked clutch adjustment? Clean it! Do the '09 Ultras have hydraulic clutches now like the V-Rods? If so, I can see DOT 4 being accidentally splashed/wiped on it during service and if it doesn't buff out, I can see a case then. As far as I know, the levers are polished aluminum. Can't you tell the difference? No reason to "swap" your lever out when they have a multitude of parts there. Just because the bike was manufactured in '09 does not mean all the parts were; it was just "assembled" in '09.

There is a huge difference in shade.
The brake lever is shiny like chrome mirror finish.
The clutch lever is dull like levers off of a dirt bike.
Also the shape looks to be different between the two.

And no its not hydraulic just cable clutch.

They never do more than they have to and the clutch lever is not
removed during 1K service. I'd hate to think the service Tech was low
enough to switch levers on you,but anything is possible.

I believe the levers are differant from 07. I just bought chrome levers for my 09 and they say on the package 08 and up touring. They probley knocked your bike into something and bent the lever, then put one on they had lying around. I would say something.

Kinda what I was thinking.
maybe it got scratched or broke and he just grabbed one that was lying around to cover his butt.
I would not be all that bothered about it if the bike was not so new.

I have worked in dealerships before both as a tech and service manager so I have seen this kinda thing happen.

You should have gotten the managers attention before you took the bike out of the shop.
Who is to say you didn't do it yourself on the way home? (their defense, not mine!)

Go back, demand to see the MGR, and bring in the Service writer that you showed it to when you left. Don't leave until it's replaced.

If you can see THAT MUCH difference, something "strange" has happened.

Just out of curiosity, I went out to the garage to look at my 09 Ultra's brake and clutch levers after reading your post. My clutch lever is much more dull than the brake lever! I never noticed it before, and my bike hasn't been in for the 1000 mile service yet. I'm now going to have to switch out my levers for black ones...thanks for helping me notice something that costs me money! No kidding tho...mine are different too...go figure?
