Most ignorant statement made by a salesman/saleswoman at a H-D dealership....
In light of the similar thread on service writers how about posting what salespersons said to you during the course of the buying process.
Had a salesman state that if their service depart does not do the services that it will void my warranty if I change my own oil! This was not an H-D dealership but a car dealership. WTF! Haven't they heard about Magnusson-Moss warranty act!

Me: Can you offer any discounts on parts to compete with some other retailers (both local and online). I'd gladly give you my money if the prices are close.
Parts Salesidiot: <laughs>
Me: Too bad. <whips out wad of cash> This $3k will go to your competition. <walks out>
Happened about 6 months ago. Since then the only thing they get is warranty service work, and sometimes I'll let 'em do other small non-warranty service work.
Quickest way to lose a customer is to disrespect them.
Ignorance? No.
Stupidity? Definitely.

OK, here's the same thing I posted to this question the last time it was asked:
Dumbest thing I've ever heard a Service writer at HD say: "We don't work on that model on Friday's." What day do you work on it? was my reply... I'm not sure, "What model is it?" Do the math on that one! I knew you'd ask so, Dumphries, VA HD dealership, 1999, and yes, it was a female Service Writer...

I got 1 for you guys...if this can be topped, I'll kiss your..........
Had my scoot painted, frame included.
I put the bike back together as far as I could get...then it was time to align everything.
Since I didn't have the tool, nor any local indy's had it...I was left to using a HD shop.
I couldn't justify buying the tool, $500 dollars...when a HD shop could do the job in under an hour.
Now, I'm friends with everyone at the HD shop...I own a lawn maintenance biz and even have the HD shop contracts.
Anyway, I setup an appointment and take my scoot in when its time.
They tell me I should be able to pick it up in a couple days.
Well, this was on a Monday.
Wednesday I go in...my scoot still hasn't moved.
I ask what was going on.
Service Manager tells me "you aint gonna believe this! all the parts to the tool aren't in the box"
"OK", I said..."can't you get the tool from your other store?"
Surely the alignment tool isn't a tool used daily.
He replies, "I'm trying to get it...they're funny about their tools" (even though the Techs didn't own them???)
So I left.
Called up on Thursday to get the status.
Was told "we're getting the tool from the other dealer"
I though, cool...I'll get to finish my scoot this weekend.
So Friday rolls around...still no call that my scoot was ready.
I wait as late as I could to drag my trailer to the dealer and pickup my scoot...since my Indy shop had to place Drag Specialties orders by 2 p.m. and I had a gut feeling HD didn't have the tool to begin with.
Anyway, at noon on Friday I pull in with my trailer to pickup my scoot.
I get out of the truck and was met by the Assistant Service Manager...he says, "I can't believe we don't have this tool,"
I look at him, pissed...and say, "how the F do you guys do frame swaps when you have to have the tool to align it?"
He said nothing.
I told him, "if you ever need the tool...call me...I'll rent mine to you!"
I had ordered one.

I was looking for an 08 leftover street glide and I had a Boston Harley salesmen tell me, and I quote....
"We don't have to lower are prices on left over SG's even if the 09's are coming out in 2 weeks, they are the best selling bike harley makes"
Hahaha! they wanted 23k and change for a loaded 08 SG (every option including alarm, abs, cruise.)
I got mine 2 days later at Seacoast Harley for 19k with every option Boston's had except the cruise. Cruise is only $239.95 out of the catalog and its plug and play. I still haven't got the cruise but I may later on. Either way I still got it for 4k and change cheaper!! If I'm going to pay full price for an SG then I was willing to wait for the 09's to come out 2 weeks later.
