Default Can the baffles be removed from Screamin' Eagle touring mufflers?

Just looking for options. I plan on keeping the mufflers and installing the V&H Tru duals head pipes soon. I like the look of my mufflers and want to keep them but looking for a bit more bravado!

Thanks

Quick answer is no..you can't remove the baffles. But wait till you do the duals. They get alot louder. Some guys change them out cause they're too loud.

No, they are welded in and have converters in each pipe. I drilled out the converters, added very little sound, don't waste your time. Go with the V&H pipes if you can.

I have some I bought in 2004 and the baffles were tack welded in. I broke the tack welds loose and they came out.

My indy removed the baffles from a pair of SEs. I think he used a blow torch.

I've always wondered what you could do to the stock pipes to make them a little louder. One of my friends took a 1" pipe and punched it back through the center of his '03 SE slip-ons to make the center hole in the baffle bigger. It made a big difference in the noise level.

If you have a 09 SE the CAT is in the header. Just remove the slip on and look into the end of the header and you will see a screen.
If it is a earlier bike then the CAT should be in the slip on.

Try this link. It has a picture of the CAT in the header.
