Default Reach seat vs Sundowner?

Hello,

I am having a hard time backing up my street glide.
Currently have the Sundowner seat, will the Reach seat be any better?
How is the comfort compared?

Thanks

Frank

I had both. The reach seat was on and off my bike in under 24 hours. The Sundowner has been on it for 3 years. If you like sitting on a rock go with the reach seat. If you like to ride all day stick with the Sundowner.

Thanks for the feedback.
I really do not want to give up the Sundowner, wife loves it.

Anyway to lower an 09 Street Glide (after market)?
Passenger floorboards restrict my leg movement also.

regards,

Frank

Your SG is already 1" lower than the other touring models, so lowering it even more is something I wouldn't recommend. Are you vertically challenged (short inseam) like so many of us are? I went with a thick soled, high heeled Chippewa Logger style boot.

Is the sundowner any lower or narrower in the front than the stock SG seat? I've got the same dilema, I just picked up a pair of Joe Rocket Big Bang Boots, they have made it easier to back up.

Had A reach seat on my Road King for 10 miles & took it off and sold it. No Comfort at all.

Not sure if it is narrower, but it sure is comfortable, that is why I was asking if I would lose comfort getting the reach seat. From everyone's opinion, I am sticking with the sundowner. I guess I will have to look into getting better boots. Can I get the links to the Joe Rocket and Chippewa boots that were chosen?

My wife and I are also a little cramped because we both are around 190 lb's and the seats seat us two close. I should have looked at the Electra Glide, but the dealer had none in stock.

But I love the way the Harley rides and will never go back to a metric bike.

Regards,
Frank

Aso, what about the passenger floorboards? They hit my legs while backing up, even when I fold them up. Are there better ones out there that do not do this?

This is a completely different idea but, I was having trouble controlling the Street Glide just walking it around (I call it crab walking) in and out of the garage.

Then I changed the handle bars to wider bars (by mistake I was trying for more pullback).
WOW, now it is so much easier.

I was talking to another guy with an Ultra this past weekend that changed his bars and he said his handled so much easier in parking lots now too.

Driving was always easy. The crab walking slow was what was diffacult.
We both changed bars to have more pull back too. Not wider bars.

Maybe that won't help with verticlely challenged people,
but it worked for me with a 32" inseam.

I have 2 pair of Chippewa boots, one pair is waterproof and one pair is not.
