Default Wiring a trailer hitch.

I am in the process of building my own trailer and am looking at different mounts to for it as well. I am now wondering what and if I really need a plug in wiring harness for the wiring or can I wire directly to the rear light harness and avoid another expense?

I use a isolator harrness. With all the electronics on the bike I worry about a short frying something. Plus not sure if the wiring on the bike is designed to handle the additional load

But thats just me

I just finished mine the other day and I was in the same mind set as yourself. It is better to go with the kit and the isolator harrness. You will save yourslf alot of trouble in the long run. I pick mine up from MCHitch total for both ran about 130.00.

One thing to remember is if you upgrade on bikes all you have to do is unplug the wire harness and move it. I just did not feel like tapping into the main wireing system. It is very easy and only took about 1 HR to complete.

Good luck.

uggg
bought a new to me bunkhouse pop up and am rewiring to a five wire setup as the camper has brakes. plus need to rewire the trailer as it has amber turn signals. need to make them red so i can pull with my wrangler that only has combo turn-stop/tail lights.

bought the five wire isolator from kuryakyn i think it was $69 minus 20% and no freight from my local yamaha dealership.
