Default Electra Glide Police vs Road King

I just bought what I thought was a 1996 Road King Police FLHP. Very nice in all white. I went to the Harley Service site to check on the next service. When I entered the VIN, the site read that the bike was an Electra Glide Standard Police FLHTP. I called Harley and they told me that the bike was an Electra. Can anyone tell me the difference and how bad did I get taken?
Thanks

Define being taken, that fairing will serve you well. I have a king and would love the stock fairing. Have a good holiday.

It did not come with the fairing. It came with the windshield. I would have loved the fairing too.

The model was listed as FLHP but the model description showed Electra Glide Standard Police. I thought that was kind of weird.

Likely the bike started as flhtp and at some point, whoever owned it removed the batwing and went for the RK look.

OK, This is just my opinion and it don't really mean squat but, the way I see it the difference is nominal. Had they somehow passed it off as one thing that you couldn't see the difference aka( No bat wing). I would be worried. The one thing that would worry me is the change in the wiring harness, who did it and is everything working right, not jury rigged.
I believe pretty much eveything below the batwing is the same is the same between a RK or E-glide police. Enjoy the ride brother. IMHO you didn't buy it for a e-glide and not knowing what you paid for it makes it even easier. You bought a road king ,ride and smile.

The 1996 FLHTP came 2 ways. You could buy it with the Batwing or the Toaster dash. My guess is you have the toaster dash version. I have a 1995 FLHTP with the toaster. Not quite pretty as the front end of the FLHRP but with the windshield it still looks good. I think 1996 was the last year for the toaster but i'm not sure.
