Angry Problem Charging System... HELP!!

I have a 2005 Ultra Classic that just burnt out another stator Saturday.. This is the fourth one that it has gone through. Anybody have any idea on what I should be looking for that is causing this.. Last stator was only in the bike just over a year..

When you changed out the Stator did you change out the Voltage Reg. Also, you may have a problem in the Rotor or a ground.

do not use air impact tools on the compensator- this can knock the magnets off the rotor and they'll hit the stator.

examine the stator and determine whether you have an electrical problem or if it has been physically pooched.

jumping a bike with a dead battery can stress the charging system and burn it out...make sure that all checks are down with a good battery and examine the wiring from the regulator to battery to ensure that it is not grounding out

First time I replaced it with a Compufire 3 phase system. It only last about a year and a half. Then replaced the next 2 with HD original equipment. And yes replaced the regulator as well. Each of them only lasted a year.. Have never jump started the bike.. Beginning to think that there is electrical current back feeding to the stator..Rotor looks fine and never have used impact wrench on it.. Bike always runs great just getting expensive replacing the charging system every year...

electrical current back to the stator is a bad diode bridge in the rectifier.

this can be confirmed in less than a minute with a voltmeter.

My experience with charging system has been good, great even.
I have used HD systems to good results- cycleelectric genny in one of my Pans.
Battery condition is probably the most important factor

I'd suggest that you take the time to go through the entire system performing the checks as in the manual...that should help you determine the problem and not replace parts that are good.
