Unhappy Back Surgery

Hi! Just had back surgery on 2/18/09. They did a lamenectomy and a fusion in the lumbar area of my spine . Anyone out there had back surgery? If so how long did it take before you able to get back to riding? Thanks!!

Had mine done in 1994. L5-S1 fusion with two rods and 4 screws, bone grafts around area to fuse. I was in a hard turtle shell for three months. Things might be a little easier now, sure your surgeon will advise you. Don't push it, one back per person. In the long run, you'll be better off.

Yea, I had it years ago. Dr. claimed it was caused due to too much motorcycling. New techniques since then, but I'm a new man since surgery... Good Luck.

Had mine 1/12/09, then they had to go back in 2/20. I'm still not riding. They did say today that I could drive myself, and I don't think mine was as serious, or as much work done, as you had. Not to depress you or anything, but just take your time and heal up the right way the first time.

L3-4-5 Rods-Screws Etc. 3 Years ago. Took about 6-8 weeks to be up and going. Without a doubt the BEST decision I ever made to have the surgery. I just have to realize that I can't lift, carry heavy stuff like I could when I was 20. Every once in a while after a long day riding I'll be sore the next morning but hell @ 60 years old and living thru the 60's I'm lucked to be walking at all. Good Luck Gary
