I know you said you thought the touring bags looked too big for your Fatboy, but I've seen a couple of photos of guys that have taken Fatboys, and/or Heritages, and added the touring bags, and they look pretty good. You might even consider the Road King Classic bags. Again, lots of storage. I know there are some ABS bags made for softies, and I'll check for a website for ya.... Good Luck

Those Viking Axe bags look a lot like the vintage Harley bags to me.

I had the newer FLHT bags on my fatboy and they looked great on it. By the way, a FLSTF is longer than a FLHR...

Here are some old bags on a Heritage. Sure was fugly when they were orange. Couldn't wait to get them painted but what the heck, they were free. This was my wifes bike and she loved the hard bags. Never lost the lid until we sold it, the new owner lost one about a week later.

Somebody said it the older FLH bags had notches in them for the battery and such, and they are smaller than the newer bags, totally different latch setup, etc.

Old bags are smaller overall, mount to brackets bolted onto your fender stuts and have a finger lock on the rear. As for carrying capacity newer style will hold more but seems like a coat and chaps will fill both up. As for losing a lid, the front latch has a hole in both top and bottom, simply thread a piece of leather through and tie off, never lost a lid in 20+ yrs. The rear key latch just needs periodic adjustment, just like the Shovel Head that they are mounted on.

Hey bigskyhd thanks for the viking website, those axe bags look a lot like the old flh bags for sure. I wonder what the luggage capacity is? Txgeezer that is exactly the look I am going for. Nice ride you got there. How old are those pics?
