Hey Skullman, I don't know if u know about this site but will give u a heads up on it, go to FIXMYHOG.COM right now for the premeun member ship is $10.00 a year, and they have all kinds of really good video's on how to do things on your Harley, was just watching one on the chain cam tensioner, check it out, also shows you the tools u can use. let me know how it goes would like to do mine also. I had the hydraulic tensioner installed in my 06 Streetglide when the cam compartment was completely rebuilt after the bearings in the plate failed at 38K. I now have 81K on the bike and have had no problems with the tensioner. I assume when they put in the new tensioner they will also replace all cam bearings with Timken bearings as the Harley bearings are pretty much junk. The high volume oil pump also significantly raised engine oil pressure. If you intend to keep the bike I would recommend it. Fortunately I had the extended warranty so that covered the cam compartment rebuild but I did have to buy the new tensioner.

It shouldn't get worse unless the crank shift's.
I love the SE plate in my bike, over 30,000 miles on it. Opened it this summer & tensioner's still looked like new. Have some cyco hydraulic replacement to go in but it will be a while before I need them. I'm sure SE will out last the stock junk that pits out.
