Tire sizes for 2003 FLHTCi
The stock rear tire size for the above is MT90B16 or metric 130/90-16. Does anyone know if a MU 90- B16 (metric 140/90 - 16) will fit a 2003 EG. According to the data I can find, the MT90/16 is 5.00 to 5.1" wide and the MU90/16 is 5.5" wide. The Dunlop fitmement guide for the E3's show the same wheel rim width for both tires and the Metzler up-grade book indicates the 140/16 will fit. However, the Metzler site does not reference the 140/16 as an option.
Thanks

I have the same year bike, 'cept a King...by all intents and purposes, the same. Been looking to go up in size for the rear tire when the time comes. I am told that I can go up 1 size (140) no prob, no mods. Rule of thumb is usually up 1 size with no mods. You should be ok. If you go up to a 150 for the rear, it will be a tight fit with respect to the belt drive, and you may need to change out spacers??? But that should be the max size without changing fenders/swingarm.
Is that the E3 Bias or Radial? Im interested in what tire to go with as well when I change, which may be before the end of summer. I hear the E3's are a decent tire.
Good luck and plse post your results.

I don't think that affects the difference in width or clearance between an MT/130 and MU/140 tyres!
I have just fitted a 140 wide Avon Venom on my 1990 bike. Had to remove the rubber 'curtain' from the inside of the belt guard to get it on. There is about 1/8 to 3/16 inch clearance between tyre edge and belt. May be a little more room on later models?
I wrote to Avon for some info on using their tyres on my bike and they recommended fitting a 140, especially for touring fully laden two up. They reckon the factory 130 is marginal for that use, which is why I took their advice. I have no idea if Venoms are bias tyres or not!
