Default Attention MP3 disc experts

I made a disc with 140 songs on it to play on my 08 SG with stock Harmon Kardon head unit. I downloaded as data, not audio to get the most on that I could. It'll play a number of songs fine (not on random setting) but then it'll start a song, play a couple of seconds then skip at random to another song and continue doing this till I remove the disc and start again. Also, I've noticed that when using the random feature, it will play some songs for a second time, before others have played. Could it be the way I downloaded or the typle of file, or do you think it's just a sensitive system that's being fussy??

I put them on the disk as mp3 and not as data. The only problem I have is random doesn't play every song once before starting over.

Random means exactly that. Random. The player does not know what songs it has played therefore it will/may play a song twice or more times before playing all songs. Even my home player does the same thing.

The HK on my bike ('06 Streetglide) is coming out forever. After installing the newest update I now have more glitches than ever before. Too bad, too 'cause I had HK home stereo back in the 80's-90's and it was great stuff. Wish I'd left well enough alone 'cause all it did before the update was gain time - everything else worked perfect. I'm real tired of finding new kinks every time I use the thing. Give me a Sony and let the healing begin.

I just burned a disk with 183 songs and that only used 522 MB of the 700 capacity on the disk.

I transfered music from iTunes to Windows Media Player and had the songs rip to WMP in MP3 format at the lowest quality setting. It sounds just fine through the stock HD speakers and I get all the song "data" on my HK display.

I would have to say trial and error. I wouldnt think that it would make a difference...the data vs the mp-3....I store all my mp-3 music as data and hadnt had a problem X 10 years so far.

I would burn a copy as an mp-3...if that doesnt work, try a different brand disc ( the quality of the ink on the disc can cause that to happen ).

If all else fails, get a new head unit. From my experience I would steer clear of the Harmon Kardon if possible. Had the same problem in my Mini Cooper with a Harmon Kardon. Would play the first 12 to 16 songs fine, then start to do strange things as you have suggested, mostly play partial songs then search.

As soon as I post this, 32 people with Harmons will tell me theirs is fine....my 2 cents....good luck with that. It can be frustrating.

I had the same issue and burning the disc at a lower speed fixed the problem. Try 1X or 2X.

This is the correct answer. The CD player in the Harmon Kardon deck is not very forgiving.

Any perceived error in the data will result in the track being passed over. Yes, even if the disc plays fine in other players.

Burn at a slower speed for more accurate data transfer.

Start the burn, walk away, have some coffee or some beer or something to take your mind away from watching the burn progress, come back to hours and hours of music to ride to.

I feel like an idiot because I've been riding a long time changing OEM cds often. I learned about burning MP3 to CD and now I get so much music on one CD, very nice. HK here with no issues bured at slow speed. 113 songs, 8.4 hours of pure classic rock ... NICE!!!!

Yep, cheaper disk, burn speed, even multi tasking on the PC while doing a burn can affect the outcome. I also created a different folder on my PC and copied all my songs to it, then renamed them numerically for the title to make sure they play in the order I wanted. Works great for me and I don't know exactly how, but it still shows the artist name when each song plays on the display. 11 hours of classic rock, no CD changing for me.
